Vegetable greenhouses in Zhongxin Village, Zhaiqian Town

 

 

Green fields crisscrossed by clean cement roads and vegetable greenhouses around the rural houses together make up a picturesque landscape in Zhongxin Village, Zhaiqian Town, Guidong County.

 

As Zhaiqian Town has carried out a special campaign to clear weeds in ponds and ditches and cracked down illegal construction and illegal waste disposal in recent years, the rural living environment has been greatly improved in Zhaiqian Town. Now the whole village looks like a beautiful garden, attracting tourists to book summer holidays here.

 

Zhaiqian Town also adopts rewards and punishments to enhance the public’s awareness of environmental protection. Liuyuan Village is the first village to establish the evaluation system of residents’ environmental sanitation, which has incorporated the living environment improvement into the village rules and regulations.

 

A list for role models as well as negative examples and the mode of daily inspection scoring by village officers and mutual supervision by neighbors have been established to score the 780 households in the village in terms of environmental sanitation. The top five households can receive one daily necessity for free every month, while the last five households need to send one person to participate in the environmental cleaning organized by the village Party branch.

 

Through this activity, the villagers have changed the bad habit of littering and the village has become much cleaner than before.
